To make an ice luminary you will need , , , , water and a cold cold winter.

  • a bucket
  • a tin can
  • rocks
  • a tea light
  • water
  • cold,cold winter

Fill bucket 1/2 full of water and set outside to freeze.

Once the water is frozen, bring it inside, and place a rock-filled tin can on the ice in the middle of the bucket.

Fill the bucket further with water until 2/3 of the can is submerged.

Put bucket outside to freeze again.

Once frozen, bring bucket inside and run water over the top to loosen the tin-can as well as the ice. Once loosened, remove the can, dump bucket over and remove the luminary.

Place tea light in center of luminary, take outside and light.

OOOOOOO SPARKLY!

(we added bits of used tinfoil to the water for extra sparkle! The foil may be recycled post-melt.)
